Prenatal Massage Therapy Session

Prenatal massage is designed to support comfort during pregnancy through safe positioning and techniques tailored to the changing body. When performed by a therapist trained in prenatal care, massage may help ease muscle tension, support circulation, and reduce discomfort related to pregnancy.
For safety and comfort, we typically offer prenatal massage beginning in the second trimester. While massage can be safe at any stage of a healthy pregnancy, many therapists and healthcare providers prefer to wait until after the first trimester. If you are in your first trimester and interested in massage, please consult with your healthcare provider.
Prenatal massage may not be appropriate for high-risk pregnancies or certain medical conditions. Please inform us at the time of booking and consult your healthcare provider if you have any pregnancy complications or concerns.

Lymphatic Support Massage Therapy Session

Lymphatic Support Massage is a gentle, superficial technique that uses light, rhythmic skin-stretching movements along lymph pathways, directing fluid toward nearby lymph vessels and lymph node regions. This approach is designed to support comfort and help the body manage temporary swelling and fluid retention.
This service is often requested after certain procedures once your provider has cleared you for massage, or for guests who benefit from a light-pressure, restorative session. Pressure is intentionally light and focused at the surface level rather than deep muscle work.

Teen Massage Therapy Session

Additional Policies
Teen massage services are available for guests ages 13–17 with written consent from a parent or legal guardian. A parent or legal guardian must remain on-site during the session. Massage techniques and pressure are adapted for comfort and safety, and services are limited to appropriate body areas.

In general, there are a few conditions that would prevent you from getting a massage. Of course, do not schedule an appointment if you are feeling unwell, have a fever, cold, or a skin condition that is contagious. The first trimester of pregnancy is generally considered off-limits for massage, as are active chemotherapy or other intensive medical treatments. If you have a serious medical condition and you are unsure if a massage would be safe for you, massage therapists will recommend that you speak with your primary care provider to get approval first.
It’s completely normal to fall asleep during your massage! If you snore or drool, no worries—our therapists have seen it all and will never judge. In fact, we love seeing you that relaxed! At The Necessity Spa, your comfort is our priority.
Your massage therapist should require you to fill out a health history form. They may also ask more in-depth questions to establish which areas you would like focused on, or if there are any specific conditions needing to be addressed. It is important to list all health concerns and medication so that your therapist can adapt your session to your specific needs without causing any harm. It is also important to specify any allergies so that your therapist may adjust the oil or cream being used during your visit.
You may undress to your level of comfort. Many people prefer to keep their underwear on during a massage, while others choose to be nude. Your massage therapist will leave the room so you can undress and lie on the massage table under a top sheet. Regardless if you choose to maintain some clothing or not, your massage therapist will always ensure that you are always properly covered.
In general, massages should not hurt. In fact, if you are in pain during a massage, this may cause your muscles to seize up, making the relaxing effects more difficult to achieve. If the pressure is too intense, speak up immediately so your therapist can adjust. Certain techniques may result in soreness during the days following a massage, similar to that of a great workout, but in general, you should not have pain during or after your massage.
Your massage experience at The Necessity Spa is entirely your own, and we encourage you to relax in whatever way feels best for you. Some clients enjoy conversation during their treatment, while others prefer quiet relaxation. There is no right or wrong choice—our priority is your comfort.
However, we do encourage you to communicate with your therapist if there is anything you’d like adjusted, such as pressure, temperature, or music. Your session is about releasing tension and enjoying the experience, and we want to ensure it is as beneficial and relaxing as possible.
Rest assured, massage therapists have seen and felt it all! Please do not feel uncomfortable or embarrassed. Your massage therapist is focused on creating a relaxing and therapeutic experience for you, and you cannot relax if you are anxious about your body’s appearance. If anything, your therapist may be able to make product or technique recommendations to help alleviate any conditions that may be bothersome to you.
Sometimes it happens. Yet many men avoid massage for fear this will happen to them. Or, they choose to receive the massage but are unable to completely relax out of fear. But there is no reason to be embarrassed. Sometimes men can get an erection during a non-sexual, therapeutic, full-body massage. Touch administered to any part of the body can activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which can result in a partial or complete erection. An educated, professional massage therapist understands this, and it should not be an issue for him or her. If you are still concerned, consider wearing more fitted underwear, which provides more support and coverage than traditional boxer shorts.
NOTE: If the therapist feels the session has turned sexual for any guest, they may stop the session to clarify the client’s intent and may decide to stop the session immediately. Under no circumstance will sexual advances be tolerated in the treatment room.

Gratuity Guidelines for Your Therapist
At The Necessity Spa, our skilled therapists are dedicated to providing exceptional service and enhancing your well-being. While gratuity is never required, it is a thoughtful way to show appreciation for their expertise and care.
Similar to tipping in a restaurant, gratuities for massage therapy typically range from 15% to 25% of the service's full price, rather than a discounted rate. The amount is entirely at your discretion and may reflect your level of satisfaction with your experience.

This is YOUR session – and the experience is all yours. Your therapist wants you to enjoy every minute and benefit as much as possible from the time you spend with them. If you would like anything changed – the pressure, areas worked, position, temperature, music, etc… speak up! You will not hurt your therapists' feelings by asking for something that will make you feel more comfortable.
Bruising is not a typical outcome of deep tissue massage, but it can occur depending on factors such as skin sensitivity, texture, age, and certain medications. The pressure can be adjusted to your comfort level, so please inform your therapist if it feels too intense.
